Privacy Policy

This explains what Nutshell collects, why, and what happens to it. It’s written in plain language.

What we collect

When you sign up, we store your email and the name you give us. As you use Nutshell, we store the books you upload, your reading position, highlights, notes, and some basic usage data about how the service is working.

Why we collect it

To provide the service — nothing else. Your library, notes, and position exist so you can pick up where you left off. Usage data helps us find bugs and keep things running.

AI providers

To generate explanations and audio, we send passages of your books to third-party AI providers. They process that text to return the explanation or narration you asked for. We don’t use your books to train models.

Cookies and sessions

We use a cookie to keep you signed in. That’s it — no ad tracking, no cross-site analytics.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we’ll delete it.

We don’t sell your data

We don’t sell personal data, and we don’t share it for advertising. Your reading stays yours.
